Welcome back to another episode of the Art of Manliness podcast! In this week’s edition we talk to Chris Guillebeau, author of the blog The Art of Non-Conformity. Do you have a dream that you’ve had since you were a boy, but never got around to fulfilling because it didn’t fit the typical life pattern of college-kids-corporate job that society pressures men into? Or perhaps you thought your dream was just too costly in both time and money and so it just remained a dream?
Well if that’s you, then Chris is the man to talk to. Chris lives what he calls an “unconventional life.” At 32 years old he spends his time traveling the world, a dream he’s had since boyhood. He’s already visited 141 countries and plans on visiting every country on the globe by his 35th birthday. And he’s done it cheaply and while providing a living for his family.
Chris now helps other people live a non-conformist lifestyle by sharing what he’s learned along the way. In this podcast we discuss how men can start their own small business to give them the flexibility to do what they want with their time, how to travel the world on a budget, and what keeps men from living their dreams.

Definitely very interesting. Good stuff.
Speaking as a reader who may be interested to learn this kind of stuff (Especially as an ambitious chef who would love to travel for little to no cost), I have to say that this article seems to be an advertisement basically for something we have to pay for in order to learn, which doesn’t seem like what this site (or article) is about. It’s like those ad’s on craigslist; “Want to be a stay at home Dad and make $100,000.00 while having your thumb up your butt at no cost to you? Click here with your credit card handy!”
Now, I’m not saying that it’s exactly like this, maybe your product is in fact more awesome then a hot dog, but to someone like me… who’s poor, it doesn’t really help us. Especially when the basic principle behind skymiles is buying stuff with the card. Sure it might be stuff you need, but it can encourage you into debt.
Just an opinion.
The “Listen to the episode” (on a separate page.) Link points to 22 and not 25; is this correct?

I’ve been following Chris Guillebeau’s blog for a while and have been impressed with his attitude and his ways of thinking. He’s a great guy and has a genuine interest in helping others, something that I think is neat.
I enjoyed the interview. Thanks for posting.
Looks like a great service! Checkin’ it out now.
Brief is the way to go. Who wants to walk around with their underwear riding up their pant’s leg all day long.
Boxers or briefs? How about this for an answer: I actually prefer boxer-briefs. They give the comfort and space of boxers without hugging the goods too tightly.
I may be wrong but I think the comment section got a bit mixed up?
Great interview btw, stumbled upon Chris’ site a few days before you posted this Brett, that was just awesome.
I agree Luis…
Boxerbriefs. Need the room (ahem), but also want the support.
Brett,
The link needs to be fixed. It points to an ealier episode–to episode 22–rather than to the converstaion with Chris Guillebeau.
Best,
RM
