I don’t know what it means, but I can’t look away.

Townsend March 21, 2011 at 11:52 am

I don’t think the Father of Conservation would find himself in a position where he was forced to gun down such rare species. Just sayin’. But do carry on in good fun.

Dave March 21, 2011 at 12:04 pm

Um…..well………..ok it’s cool.

Josh March 21, 2011 at 12:10 pm

Never before have I seen such a rare depiction of awesome manliness.

Jonathan March 21, 2011 at 12:49 pm

T.R. wouldn’t need a machine gun to take down Big Foot. I think he would just compare their feet and Big Foot would walk away in shame, lie down under a weeping willow and die of a broken spirit.

Whatever it means it is now my desktop walllpaper.

TR says HTFU!

Peckallan March 21, 2011 at 5:56 pm

I know this isn’t a real T.R. didn’t die he simply stopped shaving and is commonly mistaken for what some crazies believe is an ape-man.

Dawsy March 21, 2011 at 6:00 pm

As if he’d need a gun

Loran March 21, 2011 at 6:55 pm

There’s an awful lot of stars on that flag for Pres. Roosevelt’s time.

Gordon March 21, 2011 at 7:02 pm

Roosevelt did believe in the existence of a North American ape. I wish the rifle was .30-.40 Krag however; that would make it perfect.

Bradley March 21, 2011 at 11:05 pm

TR once spent some time in Africa hunting. He returned with over 3000 trophies, including 9 lions, 5 elephants, and 13 rhinos. He would have definately shot Bigfoot.

Rob March 22, 2011 at 10:42 am

If all else fails, he has a nuclear belt buckle to take the whole national park with him.
Oh wow, its like ‘Predator’, only Arhnolud is the Sasquatch and T.R. is the alien. Yeah, T.R. represents greed and avarice brought on by capitalism, alien to this world before man; and Sasquatch represents goodly nature and mother/Gaia themes. Its a total reversal of the American manifest destiny cultural meme. Meta.
Ooooor it’s just an awesome picture. Thanks!

ferrazsanches March 22, 2011 at 1:26 pm

it’s no machine gun. it’s TR’s Winchester 1895… in 45-70.

ferrazsanches March 22, 2011 at 1:28 pm

BTW, look at his belt buckle. It’s Duke Nukem’s belt…LOL

Brian March 22, 2011 at 6:36 pm

Teddy just needs his saber from his Rough Rider days. He slayed the Spanish with it, he can dice bigfoot up.

Neal March 24, 2011 at 4:49 pm

I think TR would have taken careful aim, not fired from the hip.

Lonnie March 24, 2011 at 8:30 pm

If this picture tickles your funny bone, you should look for “The Other Teddy Roosevelts” by Mike Resnick, published by Subterranean Press. If you’re a fan of TR and enjoy a good “what if” story, these stories will be right up your alley…

Chris March 26, 2011 at 9:21 am

I don’t think TR would gun down a Sasquatch…I think he was fascinated by them. After all, he included a sasquatch story in his book. I’m also not sure how Sasquatch is somehow un-American thus requiring the flag-waving, but there are definitely too many stars in that flag for TR’s time. And he IS carrying a machinegun, you can see it’s belt-fed.

valter March 27, 2011 at 10:33 am

yes, I can see that, was just kidding… he’s Duke Nukem’s bastard grandfather.

Allan March 28, 2011 at 8:01 pm

It’s so beautiful!!!! Thank you =D So awesome >.<

Warren March 31, 2011 at 9:05 pm

TR beats bigfoot any day of the week!

Jake April 4, 2011 at 1:17 pm

This picture is the best thing since kittens!

Lincoln April 5, 2011 at 3:04 am

This will be by background forever.

Levi April 11, 2011 at 10:07 pm

Calm down, fellas. It’s a mythical superhero of our nation doing something mythical. Who cares about stars? It’s freakin Teddy Roosevelt gunning down freakin Sasquatch with a freakin machine gun for AMERICA!

Sean O April 22, 2011 at 3:29 pm

I’m placing my money on TR. First Cuba, then the Big Foot. And he’s holding a Browning, I believe(?), which would do the job.

Matt D February 4, 2012 at 11:10 pm

Teddy don’t need no stinking gun! All he needs is a big stick!

kirk February 16, 2013 at 9:20 am

Fantasy art often shows him with a cigar for some reason. I can find no evidence that he did smoke cigars after being forced to for asthma as a kid.

But then that’s the least anachronistic or incorrect item in the pic. Ill just say Churchill gave him one after shooting Nessie with a ray gun.
