Great documentary but does he really have to curse so much?

I enjoy working with my kitchen knives and found this story interesting. The only question I have is are the knives made of hi-carbon or stainless.My primary best knives are hi carbon and date from recent decades to 100 years old.However my set is not complete.

AS A RETIRED OWNER OF A CUSTOM METAL SHOP FOR OVER 30 YEARS I CAN APPRECIATE THE DEDICATION AND CRAFTMANSHIP THAT GOES INTO EVERY KNIFE. I STARTED MY GRANDSON AT 6 YRS OLD WITH SIMPLE PROJECTS IN MY SHOP. HE WAS WELDING AT 7 YRS. OLD AND DOING WELDED SCULPTURE PROJECTS WITH HIM ON A REGULAR BASIS. HE IS A TALENTED YOUNG MAN AND VERY GOOD WITH HIS HANDS. WHEN I RAN ACROSS YOUR VIDEO ON THE INTERNET I WAS IMPRESSED AND WANTED TO SHARE THAT WITH MY GRANDSON. ( I SHOULD HAVE WATCHED THE WHOLE VIDEO FIRST). I RESENTED THE FACT THAT I HAD TO EXPLAIN TO MY GRANDSON HOW CRUDE AND VULGAR YOU WHERE. I EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT SOME PEOPLE AS TALENTED AS YOU ARE HAVE A HARD TIME COMMUNICATING WITHOUT BEING VULGAR. IT IS TRULEY A SHAME THAT WE HAVE FORGOTTEN THAT WE HAVE AN ENTITY IN THIS WORLD TO PROTECT, OUR CHILDREN. PLEASE TRY TO CLEAN UP YOUR ACT OR STAY OFF THE INTERNET.
THANK YOU
J.C.

JIM C.

I think your obliged, as a grandparent, to assess the suitability of material found on the internet before showing it to a minor. There are other videos of Joel and his work on the internet so with a little searching you could probably find something more suitable.

Um Jim,

Really? Really? You didn’t actually watch the thing you decided your grandson needed to see and then realized whoopsie there is some vulgarity and its the videos fault? Sorry, you don’t get to blame the internet for your carelessness.

Beautiful video, clearly passionate individual making superior products

@Jim C and John D.

Wow, to have the nerve to ask him to change how he talks. It is a part of who he is, and obviously it all results in the most beautiful pieces of handcrafted art. Stay away with your smallminded opinions and your selfish agendas.

One of my goals for 2012 is getting a Cut Brooklyn knife. I can’t fucking wait.
