Not to be contrarian about it, but let me note that Duluth Pack here in the frigid north has been doing it longer, and will also repair any damage to their packs, at least some of which is liable to be covered by their lifetime guarantee. I was taking a look at the Archival page and couldn’t help but get my hackles up when they wrote “we’re confident that our Rucksack will equal or exceed any other rucksack available…”
As for my own preference, Real Deal Brazil makes a pretty natty (and affordable) Belem Backpack.
