These were really enlightening articles and the Jungian concept was brilliantly articulated. I appreciated most, however, that the archetypes were presented as equally necessary components to a complete individual rather than separate personality types that some people are set with and can't do anything about. I don't know whether Carl Jung started the theory this way or if it slowly evolved through people interpreting in different ways but how I've heard the King, Lover, Magician, Warrior theory explained is that people ONLY identify with one or two of the archetypes listed and their entire personality can be derived from that knowledge alone. Even though this version of the theory is greatly popularized, I find it to generalize too much the motives behind people's decision making and personality traits which, not only puts people into shallow boxes for classification's sake, but discourages deeper thought of as to why people may be the way they are. In short, I am encouraged to see that this article works as a tool for inspiring self-development, rather than conforming to the seemingly arbitrarily conceived pop-psychology that limits true psychological study.

Great article. There's a book titled, "Tender Warrior" by Stu Weber that explores Moore's archetypes through the perspective of following Jesus of Nazareth. He suggests the alternative roles of Mentor and Friend instead of Magician and Lover. Not to knock them but to put them in a clearer context.

@Jason Taylor

Because the archetypes here --King, Warrior, Magician, and Lover-- are based on Carl Jung's theory. And so are the Keirsey's personality types.

Just search what you're looking for on the Custom Google Search on the right panel of every page.

Hope that helps.
