The 4563 Red Wing Boot Giveaway

Red Wing recently released a new boot as part of their awesome Heritage collection: the 4563. First developed for farmers, Red Wing introduced the 8-inch round toe work boot in 1919. The combination of two traditional styles, round toe boots provided the comfort of an oxford with the durability of a work boot. The round toe design made the boots more durable, as it was achieved by eliminating a seam by using one larger piece of leather instead of sewing together two smaller pieces.

Another great heritage feature of the 4563 is Red Wing’s signature Traction Tred sole, which was used on their first Irish Setter boots made in the 1950s. Farmers and upland game hunters loved the self-cleaning sole because it would keep the mud off their boots as they worked.

These boots go great with a pair of jeans, whether you’re at a worksite or out on the town. And best of all they’re Made in America, from leather crafted at a tannery in Minnesota.

The 4563 is available exclusively at Nordstroms, but Red Wing offered me a pair to give away to a lucky AoM reader as well.

6508 Sean Evans January 11, 2012 at 9:56 pm

I would wear those boots everywhere! I know the value of a good pair of boots. I got my current pair of boots for Christmas 8 years ago. They have been through mud, rain, snow and anything else I have thrown at them. They have been with me through countless adventures. However, the tread is wearing thin and I am afraid that they don’t have too many more miles on them. It’s about time to start looking for the next pair. Those boots look very nice and capable of handling anything that I could put them through.

6509 Chris January 11, 2012 at 10:07 pm

I would wear them like a Man should: hunting, to work, and around town. Anywhere and everywhere.

6511 WHLanteigne January 11, 2012 at 10:12 pm

Of course I would wear these at work or any time I needed sturdy footwear: in the mud, rain, snow, whatever. Of course I’d like a pair size 13 regular, but mostly I’m curious to see how much more junk mail this generates, hence entering my “junk mail” email address.

6512 Johnny January 11, 2012 at 10:15 pm

I would actually wear these for their intended purpose – on a job site. Then I would wear them on the street. And I would wear them with gusto.

6517 jsallison January 11, 2012 at 10:30 pm

Forgot to mention, when I worked in Kuwait the company coughed up for Redwings from a local outlet in kuwait city. When my contract ran out I tied them together and hung them over my bosses desk, threading them over the runners on the drop ceiling. An homage, if you like, to an old army tradition of tossing one’s tied together boots over the local power lines when you ets’d. He didn’t complain as we had the same shoe size. ;)

Music cranked up, tools spread out. Mind set on knocking out the task that has got the best of me for the last time. It all goes together. Working with your hands is the reward, creating the enviornment that’s conducive to getting the reward can be the hard part. Its all apart it, especially the foot wear. That’s how and where I’d use the boots. Thanks.

6540 Jonathan January 12, 2012 at 12:33 am

6545 Justin Meyers January 12, 2012 at 12:50 am

Music cranked up, tools spread out. MInd set on knocking out the task that has got the best of me for the last time. Converging all sensory motor skills together to create the groove. Working with your hands is the reward, but creating the enviornment that’s conducive to getting the reward can be the hard part. It all plays a key roll, especially the foot wear. Thats how and where I’d use the boots. Thanks.

Red Wing makes some of the best boots in the world, and currently, I’m wearing my old pair of Red Wing boots. These boots are made of fantastic material, and they look amazing too. I wear my current Red Wings everywhere, but they are getting old, and a bit worn. I love Red Wings. You will get value out of these boots. When I worked on as a farm 15 years ago before moving on to the business world, my boss would give everyone a gift certificate for pair of Red Wings. They were the only boot that would deteriorate off your feet when working in unpleasant conditions. You could imagine what you might have to walk in and the damage boots can get from daily farm work.

6580 Derek January 12, 2012 at 7:37 am
