I am planning this trip for this season with what appears to be an impossible twist. I am trying to visit each MLB stadium, and see each MLB team as the visiting team. The schedule is brutal. On your trip, what teams were you not able to see on the road?

I love the idea. In particular, I found it interesting how you were able to work with the teams to get free tickets and special tours. Do you think the charitable angle was the main selling point in making that possible?

Great Job! Just starting to consider such a trip with my wife after our kids have flown the nest, about 8 years to go. Starting to save now, and making a budget. I am thinking: $35 per ticket (average, some will be less, some will be more), 25 cents a mile for fuel, $200 per week for food and $200 per week for accomodations. Still not sure how we will travel, one idea is on motorcycles. The other idea is a small motor home so we could park at walmarts and sleep for free, plus food would be cheaper that way too. Comes out to about a $10,000 budget, which sounds like what you spent, but I am not banking on free tickets. Then again I not factoring in Souveniers or national parks. Any thoughts welcome!

I’m planning small trips throughout 2013 to see as many stadiums this summer as possible without having my employer fire me. Your “How To” is helpful and an enjoyable read.
And to R.D. in the comments above, KC is a 4 hour trip from STL, not a stone’s throw…doable but not like going from Wrigley to US Cellular in Chicago.

This sort of trip was done by a high school teacher back in the ’80′s and written about in the book, “Dodger Dogs to Fenway Franks”, by Robert Wood. So much has changed since the ’80′s, of course, so an update is long overdue.

Enjoyed the write-up very much. You know that your trip inspired my son and me to go this year, but it was done in sections over a 5-month period. HE went to all 30 parks; I went to 13 with him, while his wife and children took turns accompanying him to the others. We also took a side trip to Vegas and Death Valley and got in bike rides in NM, AZ, NV and SD. We keep track of our travels, too; he has visited 48 states, and I have biked in 49.
