After publishing Tony’s post about shoes and boots a couple of weeks ago, which mentioned Wolverine’s 1,000 Mile Boots, the good folks at Wolverine contacted us about running another giveaway with them. I was dee-lighed, as the last giveaway we did for the boots was quite popular. But also because I myself am a proud owner of Wolverine’s 1,000 Mile Boots and an unabashed fan of them.
The design of the boots is based off the design of the original 1,000 Mile Boots that were introduced back in 1914. This was a time when a man needed a pair of boots that could walk miles of unpaved roads and yet still look good with a set of handsome duds.

The 1,000 Mile Boot Collection comes in three styles: the Bradford, the Original, and the Addison.
The boots are made in the USA with top quality leather in a process that involves some of the same construction methods used to make the boots nearly a century ago. They’re built to last a very, very long time and only get better with age.
For me personally, the best part about the boots is how incredibly versatile they are. I’ve worn them with everything from a t-shirt and jeans to slacks, a tweed sports coat, and a tie. And everything in-between. They can go from walking and working to an upscale event. Practical and handsome: now that’s manly.
The Prize:

We’re giving away two, count em, two pairs of Wolverine’s 1,000 Mile Boots.
To enter, leave a comment sharing who you’d like to walk 1,000 miles with. The person can be real or fictional, dead or alive, someone you know or a famous person.
Deadline to enter is Monday, March 21 at 9PM CST. We’ll then randomly select two lucky winners. Enter today!
Edit: The contest is over and comments are closed. We’ll be announcing the winners on The AoM Trunk shortly.

I would walk 1,000 miles with my best friends.
In my hardest times they have stood by me, and I feel like I already have walked more than that with them. What is 1k more, when you can share it with amazing people?
Awesome!
I would walk a thousand miles with my grandfather.
I would walk 1000 miles of fence rows and shoreline bird hunting and fishing with my dad and brothers.
I’d like to walk a mile with George W. Bush. I respect a guy who can stand behind his own convictions.
I would like to walk 1000 milies with my dad. He is as good a father as there is but we dont get to spend enough time together. Im thankful for every moment we do get to enjoy and I know he would appreciate how awesome my new boots look.
I would walk 1000 miles with my father. He passed away last May and the one thing that he always wanted us to do is thru hike the Appalachian Trail So I wish that I could walk 2181 mile with him. Not a day goes by when I wish that I would have taken the time to do that with him.
I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more just to be the man who walked 1000 miles to fall down at my love’s door.
I’d walk a 1000 miles with my grandfather
I’d walk 1000 miles with my Dad. I’m moving to the other side of the country and won’t get to see him as much. Of course, I’m not sure he’d be up for the 1,000 miles. It might take more than a pair of boots to convince him.
Just to be the man who walks a 1000 miles to wind up at your door!
I’d walk a thousand miles with my girlfriend. We always love the outdoors, and this would be something awesome to experience.
I would take the walk with my friend and Brother Liam. He is not my biological brother, but is one of the closest male friends I have, and one that I would be honored and privileged to take a 1,000 mile walk with. The conversations we would have, and the amazing conclusions we would come to while on that journey would be absolutely amazing. I have walked 100 km with him on the West Coast Trail in B.C here in Canada, and It would be amazing to multiply that number 10 fold and see what would come of it.
I’d walk 1000 miles with any number of people, My Dad, Brother, Grandfather, all would be worth the trip and unforgettable. But if I could pick I would like to physically walk 1000 miles with my saviour – Jesus Christ. I know he walks with me now and I can feel his presence and even talk to him and he answers, but to have him present in the flesh as his diciples did so long ago would have to be the absolute experience that mere words could not describe.
I would walk 1000 miles with Muammar Gaddafi, in order to discuss and change his views, thereby ending the brunt of the conflict in Libya right now. I feel like that would be the best use of this 1000 mile walk.
I’d like to walk the first 500 miles with my past, and walk the last 500 with my future. Or, If I don’t have the chance, then I think I might walk the 1000 with the boot and die happily.
Teddy Roosevelt because he was an American bad-ass.
I’d walk 1,000 miles with my wife.
I would walk a thousand miles with my mother. She died when I was 16 and I am 34 now. I have 6 children and a beautiful wife I would love for her to see and know. I would walk a 1,000 miles holding her hand and I would bring my iphone so my kids could see her. I would ask all the questions I’ve had over the years and listen intently to her wise answers.
I’d walk 1000 miles with my best friend. I would learn so much more about her that way.
I would walk a thousand miles with my son Luke. We are active in BSA where we find many opportunities to hike. These would be wonderful shoe.
Mike 6’2″ 260- Been after one of these for so long but just can’t afford them! I’d love to own them, walk in them for the rest of my life! They’re everything I could ever want in a pair of boots!!!
I would walk a 1000 miles with my step dad.
I’m not sure if I’d like to walk 1,000 miles with myself, which is exactly why I would. Not by myself, but with myself… not a clone of me, but actually me… in two persons. One me, where my conscience is, and the other me with whom I’d be walking. I would hope to learn a lot about myself, like maybe the actual perceptions that others have of me without knowing the thoughts which drive my actions, or in many cases, have absolutely nothing to do with my actions. I wonder if I would like myself more, less, or not at all. Hmmm…
I would like to walk 1,000 miles with my girlfriend, all across the United States.
I would walk 1000 miles with my step-dad.
I would like to walk 1,000 miles with my father. He is a true man and role model for me. He works hard doing everything for everyone and still comes home and is able to take care of his family. He survived colon cancer and never complained once. He built the home we live in. I have lived with him for 24 years and I still don’t know him as well as I should.
I agree with Brian W, 1000 miles of trying to keep up with Teddy Roosevelt.
Each time I’d fall behind I’d be givin a manly lecture on fortitude and stick-to-it-ness.
I’d walk 1000 miles with my dog and I’m 99.9% sure he wouldn’t complain one step of the way. Wonderful and thought provoking question, by the way.
I would walk 1000 miles with my family.
I would walk 1,000 miles with my grandfather, who past away afew years ago. I dont exspect to win but it really made me think . All the times in my life I look back at what he told me
Thank you for the memorys
I’d certainly take the opportunity to walk 1,000 miles with my paternal grandfather. Although I had a chance to know him as a boy and learned much from him the opportunity to know him as a man would be absolutely priceless.
I would walk with my friend Chris, we go on walks all the time, it would just be a bit farther.
If I could walk 1,000 miles with anyone it would be James McKay from William Wyler’s 1958 film The Big Country.
I’d walk 1,000 miles down the Appalachian Trail with my dad. He died when I was 13 and I’d like to know him better.
But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walks a thousand miles
To fall down at your door
It would have to be my dad.
Can’t beat family.
I love the look and from what I’ve read they appear to have great reliability and wear.
I’d walk a thousand miles with my wife. Beside her the whole way…unless there was something cool, interesting or scary ahead. Then I’d probably check it out first to see what all the fuss was about.
I would walk a thousand miles with my dad who passed away 7 years ago.
Teddy Roosevelt. He could keep up with me and have a boatload of stories to tell.
I would walk 1000 miles with my grandfather who, although deceased, lived to see and accomplish so much.
If I could walk 1000 miles with anyone it would be my great grandfather. He was a man who could teach me things about being a man that i will probably never have a chance to learn. He traveled across the country during the great depression to keep his family clothed and fed. I cant imagine the sacrifices and hardships he endured.
I’d walk 1000 miles with my father who I never got to say goodbye to. However, I’d walk 5000 miles with The Proclaimers!
I’d walk 1,000 miles with my sons –
I would walk that thousand miles with my father and brother. I’m sure we’d have some pretty crazy adventures along the way which is more than worth the tired feet at the end of it all.
Grandpa. Before he died I was too young to understand the knowledge of life he could have shared with me about the war, railroad life, being a sales man, style, that comb he always kept in his shirt pocket.. etc. Love family.
I too would want to walk 1000 miles with my recently deceased grandfather. He served with the Navy during WWII and was one of the first troops to enter during the fall of Berlin. He never spoke of about what happened during that time and PERHAPS a thousand mile stroll might loosen his tongue. Wouldn’t matter if it didn’t though; I would love to be able to speand that amount of time with him to know him on a deeper level.
I’d walk 1000 miles with my great grandfather. He was an Irish renegade who was color blind.
I would love to walk a 1,000 miles with Napoleon Hill.
I’d love to walk 1,000 miles with Jesus Christ. But, since he’s always with me I’d choose my boys because they’re young and full of energy!
Frankly, I’d love to walk a thousand miles with my wife while wearing these. I think they would make the journey even more enjoyable!
I’d walk 1000 miles with The Proclaimers. They seem to be good at that kind of thing.
I would walk 1,000 miles with a couple of my closest friends. We hold conversations and reminisce for what could be 1,000 miles anyway.
I’d walk a thousand miles with my mother and her father. He died when she was three, so neither of us knew him. We know him only through others, who tell wonderful, generous stories about this intelligent, handsome man, a country doctor. It would be great for both of us to know this man better than life afforded us.
My father.
MY DAD
I would walk with my son. I hope in those miles I would be able to give him a firm foundation on which to build his life.
I would walk a thousand miles with my wonderful wife and kids and think about what a lucky man I am.
I would love to walk 1000 miles with my grandfather. He was a wild man in his youth and I wish I could have really had a chat when i was old enough to understand it.
I would walk 1000 miles with my father. There is so much I’d like to talk about that we never had the time or opportunity to.
I’d walk a thousand miles with my wife, hiking through the rocky mountains.
I would like to walk with good ol Teddy Roosevelt, that man knew how to have an adventure.
I would definitely want to walk 1000 miles with my Dad. Road trips have always brought us closer and I can imagine that the stories that would come out of a road trip on foot would be priceless.
My boyfriend
I would walk a 1000 miles with a mentor of mine that passed a few years ago.
Other than my father, I’d love to walk 1,000 miles with Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson.
I’d walk a 1000 miles with Charlie Sheen. Winning!
I would walk 1,000 miles with my younger brothers. It’s been too long since we spent any real time together.
To walk with anyone? I never had much of a dad before I was 10. So the obvious answer would be my stepdad. Fortunately I get the frequent opportunity to walk around with him and he puts me to work while at his farm. also he wouldn’t want me to waste the answer on him anyway. So, the next best answer to this question is David Letterman. To be that funny for that long & the guy’s gotta have some great stories.
I would want to walk a thousand miles with every member of ZZ Top. Is it me or would they not have the best things to conversate about? And don’t even get me started on a beard like theirs.
I would start off walking the west highland way with my girlfriend when she returns from her assignment with the peace corps. The remaining 900 miles would also be with her and our two dogs, the Irish wolfhound and the English mastiff around lake whatcom and into the rest of my life…
I give anything to walk those 1,000 miles with my brother. It was a about this time a year ago that he was diagnosed with cancer. He fought up until the last day July 10, 2010. He was an Iraqi war veteran, had served in the Army for 4.5 years. Was putting together what he wanted to do with his life, putting what he had done and seen behind him, reconnecting with the family he had pushed away just after he got out. It still doesn’t make since to me that a youn man (28), who took care of his body, who didn’t have a bad thing to say about anyone, who gave so much, would be taken so young. Unfortunately he won’t have that chance to walk those miles, all I can do is keep him with me while I walk mine.
Thanks
I would like to walk 1,000 miles with my girlfriend because I would be all cheery for the first few, then she would have the drive to kick my butt the rest of the way.
Hands down I would choose Walt Whitman. He reminds me that I am an integral part of nature, intrinsically beautiful and lovable. We are the universe, the universe is us, “For every atom belonging to me, as good belongs to you.”
I would walk a thousand miles with my grandpa. He was only the most feared person I ever knew, but also the funniest.
I’d like to take a walk with at least one but ideally a few incarnations of me. I’d like to gain back lost wisdom and put myself in greater context. Also, to show off some Wolverine boots to younger me and say “look, kid, you got these to look forward to.”
I’d walk those thousand miles with my dad. I can always talk to him, but our best man-to-man talks were always had while walking, just the two of us.
I would like to walk 1,000 miles with my grandfather, who passed away before I was born.
Thanks for another great contest!
I’d walk 1000 miles with my girl.
i would walk 1000 miles with Alexis Zorba. The greek mine-worker from Kazantzakis’ Zorba The Greek novel.
I think the best person to take a walk with in the 1,000 mile boot would be Theodore Roosevelt.
I would want to walk 1,000 miles in Wolverine boots with Captain Sir Richard Francis Burton. A great man little taught about in our country today. The true discoverer of the Nile source, explorer of Africa, Asia, and India, translator of the Arabian Nights and the Kama Sutra. Soldier, spy, teacher and scholar. Wandered through America in her heyday, drank his way through New Orleans then discussed religion with Brigham Young. A one-of-kind adventurer.
I read a story once about a man who sailed around the world on his ship. This may not seen out of the ordinary, but there was one thing that made this guy stand out: he was missing his legs just above his knees. Instead of complaining about his disability he praised God for giving him a physical disability because it made him better.
I would want to walk / sail / bike 1000 miles with him in hopes that his good nature and attitude would rub off on me a bit.
My dog.
Hunter S. Thompson
I would like to walk one thousand miles with Chris Onstad, creator of Achewood. If his conversation is as far-ranging and funny as the strip than it is bound to be an interesting walk.
I would like to walk 1,000 miles with someone who would encourage me to walk 1,000 more.
I’d love to walk 1,000 miles with my wife or my son. Maybe both, if they were available.

I would walk 1,000 miles with Jim Henson.
I would like to walk 1,000 miles with my wife.
Teddy Roosevelt… on a hunt for big game in africa!
I would love to walk 1,000 miles with my Grandpa Blackney, I’d settle for 1 if it meant he were still around. Yep, I’d like that a lot.
I’d walk 1,000 miles with Bob Dylan so I could pick his brain.
I would walk 1,000 miles with Everett Ruess. The man who died so young chasing his dreams. He is still a mystery, and they still haven’t found his body 60 years later. Chris McCandless, Pat Tillman… They followed Everett Ruess’s path in life and I would like to do the same in those sweet boots! Love the site!
I would do anything to walk with my grandpa one last time.
It’s been said above, but that’s because it’s right I would walk 1000 miles with my Dad and my Pawpaw. My Dad to take advantage of the time we have left, my Pawpaw to make up for me not being wise enough to enjoy him more when he was alive.
I would walk across America with Peter Jenkins. His book, entitled “A Walk Across America,” gave me new perspectives on not only myself but the U.S.A. It inspired me to face my disillusionment with my mid-20s by hitting the open road and exploring the greatest country on Earth.
I would like to walk 1,000 miles with my grandpas (who died before I was born).
