Great post!
I am always trying to tell my husband about wearing the right shoes for the right occasion.
He always wears his work boots EVERYWHERE, even in the summer.

They kinda look like these: http://www.rogansworkboots.com/i1529616/756241/products/Carolina-8-Inch-EH-Aluminum-Toe-Work-Boots-CA5528.html?d_id=59564

One thing that this article does not address is that you should wear a different pair of shoes each day if you possibly can. Not only does it extend the wear on your shoes but it gives your feet a break. This advice came from not only my wife who worked in shoe sales for 15 years but from 2 podiatrists as well.

I own a pair of Bluchers and a pair of Oxfords for dress occasions. But for my daily office casual required dress, wear I have three pairs of western boots; one pair in black, with basic stitching; one pair in cordovan, with basic stitching and one pair in medium tan-brown with heavy stitching, which because they are more "showy" are usually only worn when I wear khakis (rarely) or jeans on 'casual' Fridays. They as comfortable as any shoe.

I have recently moved to a cold place where it snows a fair amount. I am wondering what sort of shoes to purchase for the winter that can be worn with jeans/slacks, look smart but also wont get ruined in the snow. All I have right now are leather shoes!
The trouble is, all the 'snow shoes' and boots I have seen are most inelegant. Any suggestions?

"a poor choice here can lead to not only discomfort but injury one step at a time, especially if you select shoes that inhibit your body’s natural gait and cushioning system."
This is a very important point. For a shoe to allow the foot to work properly biomechanically, the sole should be as thin as possible, the heel and toes no higher than the forefoot. The shoe should not give any support as that leads to underdeveloped muscles and less agility and balance. This goes for both walking and running.

For a pair of boots that can be dressed up or worn with jeans to work I have a repro pair of WWII Service Shoes. They're a lot like the Wolverine 1000 mile boots, but at little cheaper. Plus, you get the added BA feeling of wearing what thousands of guys wore as they won the one of the crazier conflicts of the last century where many manly acts were conducted;)

I actually have both pairs. The cheaper ones are for work and the other ones are to make my classmates jealous as they look at their reflection in the shiny toe cap.
