Congratulations Mr Palmer on your success and for giving this interview! You gave many of us songwriters hope with your kind words and encouragement! Thank you AOM for publishing this interview and listing this under the "So You Want My Job" series, I think it is important people recognise songwriters who slog behind the scenes and not just the ones who are staff writers or performing songwriters...God bless all the songwriters everywhere around the world!

Great story. I can't imagine being a songwriter for a living...having to stay at that level and always be coming up with something fresh. I like writing songs and poetry, but think the pressure of it all would be too much to even try making it a profession. I do really respect it though....hats off and thanks for the interview.

I read this So You Want My Job segment. I think it's cool that you guys featured a songwriter-- no one ever really thinks of songwriting as a profession since you never really see the songwriter- you only see the performer, unless the songwriter IS the performer. But I think it's great to pay homage to the true creative brain of today's music.

Checked out his stuff on iTunes and really liked it! Keep it up, Palmer! Thanks.

This was a good one!

Lots of good solid info here. Being a musician that has toured a bit and is a hired gun for studio work, I know that he really hit the nail on the head. It is a lot of hard work. You've got to keep the hustle. But it is very rewarding.

I love the So You Want My Job series!

Awesome! I never thought they'd get around to having a songwriter in the "So You Want My Job" series. A little more detail would have been nice, but honestly, I'm just glad to see it up here!

By the way you can hear some of my songs online; just click my name!
