A few weeks ago we held a contest on the site called Shoe Shine Saturday.

Readers submitted photos of their best shoe shine, and the pictures were judged by the quality of the shoe shine and the creativity of the photo. KIWI Shoe Care was kind enough to sponsor the contest by offering some awesome shoe shine kits to the winners. And we threw in a handsome, handmade, wooden shoe shine box for the grand prize winner.

We received over 180 awesome submissions. After going through them all, we’ve selected a grand prize winner and a runner up.

Shoe Shine Saturday Runner-Up

The runner-up in the Shoe Shine Saturday Photo Contest is Phillip Boggs. Here’s his submission:

Ready for work.

Congrats, Phillip! You’ll be getting a shoe shine kit full of products from KIWI Shoe Care.

Shoe Shine Saturday Grandprize Winner

The Grandprize winner of the Shoe Shine Saturday Photo Contest is Matt Clark. Here’s Matt’s winning submission:

Shined our church shoes. Passing the tradition from father to son.

Congratulations, Matt! You’ll be getting a shoe shine kit from KIWI Shoe Care, a manly handmade cedar shoeshine box, a leather belt and wallet, and a $100 gift card to Target.

Thanks to everyone who participated in Shoe Shine Saturday and thanks to KIWI Shoe Care for sponsoring the contest! Just because the contest is over, don’t let the tradition die….keep up the ritual of Shoeshine Saturday every week!

Agreed…I thought the Runner-up was fantastic…but scrolling down to the winner…the ‘Passing the Tradition’ aspect was wonderful.

Just to clarify Jared, those shoes were buffed to that high shine by hand. Also, the uniform is for a pilot not a steward. Thanks everyone for the great comments. I new as soon as a saw the “tradition” photo in the entries it was going to be the winner, well deserved Mr. Clark!

Is it me or is it weird that the pilot is shining his shoes and getting dressed in the cockpit.

I can’t believe I missed this. I would have had a real great chance of winning with my uniform boots.

The pilot was shining his shoes in the cockpit after the 3rd flask of Johnny Walker Blue

When I get my shoes shined, I find my shoes are too bright to be worn on a regular day they seem to say look at me. And as I’m not in sales, or a pimp,( which is a sales job.) I find the glow unnerving.
