The front crawl method described is similar to the red cross method of teaching the crawl. There is another method I prefer that teaches "front quadrant swimming" a method I believe is more efficient and faster.
I believed that the yell was taken eventually to a growling dog. Dog's yell are very appropriate with Tarzans' yell. By the way very informative post. Now I know where that yell came from.

We idolize real persons or characters mimicking the real person who sacrifice their lives for the interest of others. Individuals who insist on saving alligators even if they've been bitten by them.
This phenomenon is primarily due to the fact that we're tired of seeing people, as individuals or groups, so rotten, lazy, selfish assholes who don't stop at sacrificing their children, family, town and country just to feed their ugly inner self. they have no guts, will or courage to acknowledge even a small mistakes that they have made, a major indicator of an ignorant individual with limited understanding, comprehension and spiritual capacity.

"In Tarzan movies, a frequent scene is that of the Ape Man diving into a river and swimming briskly to fight an alligator that’s circling Jane... In a matter of seconds, Tarzan could scale a jungle tree to fight a jaguar or escape a herd of raging rhinos".

An alligator? A jaguar? In Africa? Maybe in some of the other places he visited.

This article reminds me of a radio personality we have in Toronto.

Does anybody remember jamming in the jungle with Tarzan Dan? He always got his listeners who phoned in to do their best Tarzan yell?

It was pretty good back in the day.

Ah, but there are vines you can swing from even though they grow from the ground up: wild grape vines. Cut one loose near ground level and grab on. The thicker ones can hold the weight of even a large person since the vine branches out to attach itself to the trees branches in several locations. Maybe this is the vine the movie makers had in mind.

As for the dive, just let me caution you first-timers. While at the Jones Beach Pool high dive board, I made a perfect swan dive...and nearly left my speedo on the top of the water! Okay, it was the 70's and I was young. If not for incredibly quick thinking, I'd have come up wearing that speedo on my head. To save what little dignity I had, I splayed out my feet, catching the speedo at my ankles. Well, I thought that was a good idea. However, as I tried to bring up my suit, I soon realized that it had "rolled" down. This made bringing it back on quite difficult. Trying to swim AND put on a wet, rolled speedo was difficult, a problem the lifeguard took note of! He stood up, put that whistle in his mouth, and I desperately waved him off. I barely made it to the side, The moral of this tale, tie that damn suit tight! And maybe choose something other than a speedo.
