Perhaps you should read Jefferson&#039;s original Declaration of Independence where he condemns the slave trade and institution. I am not defending slavery, however, it is not fair to sell short any of these men because they happened to own slaves(yes Washington did too, as did many of the Founding fathers and even Ulysses Grant 60 years later than Jefferson), as it was the only way at the time to produce enough food for people to eat.]]></description>
