The first time I ever put a razor to my face and shaved I was 13, and had used my father's shaving brush to lather on the edge shaving creme he used. I used an old 2 bladed razor and promptly cut my chin open. My first time shaving yielded my first "battle scar" if you will. Although that was the first time I shaved for real, as a child I used to apply shaving creme to my face with his old brush when my dad would shave. As he was shaving with his razor, I'd run a no bladed razor (he removed the blades) down my face in synchronized fashion with him. It was a little right of passage to manhood. I look back on those memories fondly.

My first shave occurred when I was away from home at a summer camp. I squirreled away a cheap disposable razor in my pack, hid it from my parents really, and took it with me with the intent of shaving every day at this week long summer camp.
I was 11.
The first night I used my disposable razor, dry, and proceeded to cut the hell out of my face. My upper lip looked like I lost a fight, my chin looked like I fell off a bike, and surprisingly my cheeks came out unharmed.
One of the camp counsellors who was 17 and shaving daily figured it out immediately and pulled me aside. He said wait 2 days for the cuts to heal and we’ll do it right. The next time he showed me how to use shaving cream, and to rinse the blade in cold water regularly.
At the end of the week I had shaved 4 times and I was getting pretty decent at it. Frankly once that initial stubble/fuzz was shaved off there wasn’t much else to speak of but the point was that I was doing it. We all rush into adulthood at some point it seems, and that was my time.

My first shave was fairly uneventful, but I definitely remember the feelings and thoughts leading up to it.

I remember feelig excited about the need and hoping I would grow facial hair soon. I started like many boys with a slightly darker mustash, and it slowly became sideburns as well.

My first few shaves were with an old electric razor that was originally my grandfathers. he had passed away just a year or two before I started shaving and I was proud to use his equipment. It was then a long while before I graduated to a Mach 3, and even longer before I started using a straight razor.

My stepdad handed me a disposable razor and a can of goo and told me to go at it. Apparently, his father never taught him to shave so he didn't think it was necessary.

Little did I know that he had it all wrong! Somewhere in the last two years we both got into wetshaving and started to shave 'the right way.' I'm pretty sure he's still using Mach3's tho -- I've moved onto double edged razors.

It was either junior or senior year of high-school and I taught myself. He has a similar razor to what's being given away, so I just borrowed it and didn't even bother with the shaving cream. Wasn't really that hard considering I couldn't grow a beard if I tried then and it's still pretty thin right now. For years I could get away with dry shaving, which was nice in the Army. Hell, I only shave once a week for work.
