Grant,
Thanks for your question about Rule #4. The contest originated within the AoM Photo Group; and the group exists mainly as a place where photographers (of all levels) can congregate, communicate, and learn from each other. We regularly exchange photos for critique and comments. We often share tips and give each other pointers on technique as well as creative. To submit a photo not of one's own creation would seem somewhat out of context. However, within the context of this contest, and in the spirit of "capturing the moment"; you may submit a photo, such as was suggested. But please do so, with an explanation, so that other members might take that into consideration while commenting. Finalists will be determined by comments from the Photo Group members.

A question about Rule 4: I have a photo of my dad and I that my mom took. Would it still be acceptable to submit it for this contest? Of course, I would get my mom's permission to use it. Even though I'm not the photographer of this photo, it seems as if this would still be in the spirit of these rules.
