For a shot at winning a Case pocket knife, 258 of AoM’s readers emptied their pockets and allowed the world to see what they’re lugging around in them every day. The results were an interesting snapshot of your personalities and lives. Whether you were packing heat or a novel, I thoroughly enjoyed looking through the unique contents of your pockets. You can see all of the entries here.

The fine folks at  W.R Case and Sons looked at each and every photograph and have finally decided on their favorite. The winner of a brand new, Made in the USA Case pocket knife is……

Jeffrey Andresen. Here’s what our man Jeffrey carries in his pockets:

All that was missing was a Case pocketknife, and now that situation will of course be rectified. Congratulations Jeffrey!

If you weren’t lucky enough to win, it’s time to pick up a Case pocketknife for yourself. After all, every man should carry a pocketknife.

Many thanks to W.R Case and Sons for sponsoring this contest.

Props for carrying a jar of change.

Oooo. Shiny stuff! I love the pocketwatch.

I had no idea they were picking a favorite–I thought it would be random selection.

If I would have known they were picking their favorite, I would have taken a picture with all kinds of crap that I supposedly “carry every day” too to increase my chances.

Oh well. Lesson learned.

Nice beard.

How do you keep your pants up?

5 Adam Snider May 14, 2009 at 2:14 pm

He carries all of that in his pockets? I find that hard to believe. Surely, he uses a man-bag of some sort. How can so much fit in pockets? Does he wear cargo pants all the time?

I’m glad I don’t carry that much stuff.

Exactly what is the point of carrying two (four?) big coins which either can’t or won’t be spent along with you? And a can-opener, a baby pliers (both all but useless), and a fold-up marlin spike? Exactly what page of Moby Dick did this guy step out of? A single Leatherman would probably do better and not wear pockets out every week. Also, that watch-carabiner thing probably goes on his beltloop, not in his pocket.

Gentlemen, the purpose of this post is to congratulate the winner, not to disparage his win by claiming that he doesn’t actually carry this stuff in his pockets or that’s he wrong for doing so if he does. Every man has his own ways of doing things. I have no doubt that if he says he carries this stuff in his pockets, than he does. Please lose with grace and show the guy some respect.

Yep, that all fits in my pockets, it’s really not all that much stuff though weekends generally I wont bother with the p-38 and mini tool but that’s my usual pocket stuff. I frequently have my mandolin with me and after spending a fortune on lost picks (well a fortune to a New England yankee anyway) decided it was just as good and much cheaper to use home made I had just managed to squeeze three “new” ones from a shaws store card the week prior. And the only thing that gives me trouble keeping my pants up is the jar of change. ;)
My deepest thanks to W.R Case and Sons and The Art of Manliness, this will truly be treasured.

Grats, Jeffrey!

I love that pocketwatch, very classy. :P

Also, props for the classic blank Zippo, I love mine as well, and can’t stand the ones with fancy designs.

Interestingly enough Case and Zippo are owned by the same company. Can’t get a manlier company than that.

11 Ryan May 14, 2009 at 5:59 pm

That’s a pretty BA looking pocket watch. Congrats on the win.

12 Gary May 14, 2009 at 6:04 pm

Are you sure this was not a display at an antique shop ?

13 Kevin A. May 15, 2009 at 5:59 am

Congrats, Jeff. I’d like to win the stash in your pocket, dude.

One should always carry a pint of “Old Grandad” in their tacklebox. Besides being available for disinfectant use, it also kills any urge to cough. Coughing scares fish.

OK, a little investigative research: how does the Burt’s bees case stay unscratched bouncing around with all that metal in it? And, I agree with the props for the jar of change, but how does he fold the desk to fit in his pocket?

16 Roy Meisenzahl August 16, 2010 at 2:55 pm

Great to have another one.

17 Rick Meisenzahl August 16, 2010 at 2:57 pm

My pocket needs one. Thanks

18 Aleah March 28, 2013 at 5:03 pm

Props on the p-38. I used to carry one everywhere

What is the rather large device to the right of the Burt’s Bees tin and is under the carabiner?
