morning bell: Say to him, “Please plan some nice date for us this weekend” – and then don’t say anything more about it. (Notice how that says exactly what you want and when you want it in less than 10 words – any more words or any less information, and he’ll just become frustrated trying to guess what exactly you want to do.)

If he runs with it and you have a nice time (or at least an honest attempt at a nice time), great!

If he comes home Friday night with a 12-pack of Budweiser and the DVD collection of “Jackass”, calmly say “That’s not a date. I’m going out by myself, and you can try again next week.”

My wife and I have a personal favorite date: the discount movie theater. When we were dating in college, and obviously didn’t have much $, the dicount theater was a life saver. Now I know that prices have gone up since then but we could go and see a mattenae (sp?) movie (2 for $1), get two hotdogs ($1 each), popcorn ($3), and a refillable soda ($2) for an awesome date (for under $10). Then we would walk home if the weather was nice and chat.

Great idea if you have a discount theater in your area.

This is my first comment I believe, but I’ve been a subscriber for a while. This is easily one of my favorite blogs out there. Your work is outstanding, and I get a lot of value out of it. Bravo!
